Artistic Director - Profile

 

Lisa Mills is an International Theatre Director and Consultant.  She graduated in 1994 with 
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama in Australia.  After working as a deaf actor with the 
Australian Theatre of the Deaf Company she progressed to become an established theatre 
director / workshop leader for deaf and hearing youth in England during 2000 – 2006.   

In 2004, Lisa completed a one-year contract for Arts Council England as a Deaf Arts 
Consultant, which involved increasing awareness of Deaf issues and promoting the work of 
Deaf Artists to regularly funded mainstream arts venues.   

As well, she delivered a successful Arts and Culture for Development project for the British
Council in East Africa in 2001 and again in South India in 2004. 

Lisa is devoted to correcting misconceptions made about deafness, deaf people, Deaf 
Community and Deaf Culture. She strives to increase Deaf Awareness in hearing 
communities throughout the world and to empower deaf and hearing youth and adults 
internationally through the Arts.
