6-WEEK AUSLAN IN THE COMMUNITY COURSES: INTRODUCTION & INTERMEDIATE LEVELS

LEVEL 1 - INTRODUCTION COURSE
Auslan is the language of approximately 15,000 Deaf Australians. Statistics show one in every six Australians have some degree of hearing loss. Auslan is a visual language and growing in popularity. Students of this course will receive colour print handouts & will learn:
1. Deaf awareness: about deafness, Deaf Community and Culture
2. Auslan: fingerspelling, numbers, days of the week, colour, weather,
question words, greetings, likes & dislikes, feelings & emotions, verbs,
people, family & friends, work, food & drinks
3. Nonverbal communication
4. Conversation practice: learn the basics of how to communicate
with deaf people in Auslan without voice

LEVEL 2 - INTERMEDIATE COURSE

sports; holidays; clothes and bathing; party and celebration;
and regions - countries / states / cities
